KEXP "Hood to Hood" Live In Ballard

New DJs, Too

I consider KEXP to be an oasis in the midst of an arid commercial music radio landscape. It's Seattle's own fantastically eclectic and fabulous 90.3 FM member supported radio, "where the music matters." KEXP dj's were broadcasting live all day and night yesterday from the Ballard neighborhood, where it has a very large enclave of contributing listeners. They were spinning in a lot of local shops and there were sales and discounts everywhere. It was like they invaded Ballard. Here are two of the radio station's staff on air at Sonic Boom music store in the afternoon where listeners were treated to a live band (more pix here). They had broadcast from Cafe Verite & Cupcake Royale in the morning, and in the evening sponsored shows at three music venues along Ballard Avenue, the Sunset, Tractor Tavern, and Conor Byrne.
