$ 2.5 Million Sleepless In Seattle Location

Here is a rare opportunity for a wealthy movie buff. The floating home used for exterior shots in the 1993 Tom Hanks & Meg Ryan hit romantic comedy, "Sleepless in Seattle," is available for sale for the first time in 14 years. Many visitors to Seattle ask to see the over 2000 square foot "houseboat" with the killer views of Lake Union. It is the tan one with green and purple trim peeking at the very end of a this private residence dock. There are only 500 houseboats / floating homes around Lake Union's shores, and I believe this is one of the very largest (4 bedrooms/2 baths) and has unobstructed views. Yes, that's the bench Hank's sits on during the fireworks scene, just visible at the end of the dock beyond that hanging flower basket. Visitors can only catch a full view from a respectful distance via one of the Lake Union tour boat operations. Ban Roll On Building

The green glass dome of the Second & Seneca Building is one of the most easily identifiable architectural details visible from the Seattle waterfront. The building has been lovingly dubbed the Ban Roll On building and R2D2 because of its distinctive ball shaped dome which glows from within at night. Needling Around

From iconic symbol of a space age world's fair to 46 years a dominant structure on the skyline, Seattle's Space Needle is an inescapable (and marketable) image, here rendered in metal, pasta, paper, and porcelain. You'll even find it in ice sculptures, blown glass, and seemingly etched in the psyche as the trademark of the city by the Sound. Do you have an example lying around your house somewhere?

Red Orange Tulips & Cigar

Tulips are finally in full bloom in yards all over Seattle. The unusually cold late winter and early spring even delayed the blooms of the famous Tulip Festival north of here in Skagit Valley, where hundreds of tulip varieties are grown for the bulb market. I was focusing on these red-orange tulips, standing uphill a bit from this gentleman's home when he stepped into his front yard to walk his dog and enjoy a cigar. I kind of liked the "man as bokeh" effect he created by stumbling into the shot.

Happy Couple

Seen in a split second, and not the best capture in the rush to get the shot, but I couldn't resist their smiles. This couple was crossing a downtown street hand in hand, enjoying an animated conversation. Spring is in the air in Seattle today, so here's to seeing more couples sharing happy moments like this. They certainly brought a smile to my face. Hope you are enjoying your Saturday!

Removing the delectable day olds from the window at the close of the day. This Queen Anne neighborhood bakery cafe's windows are often steamy when I walk by late at night. A lovely place to sit with a cuppa and some wonderful warm offering while slowly coming to on a spring morning, and a nice lunch menu, too. Happy Friday everyone!

Ani Plays Seattle

Indie musician Ani DiFranco's tour bus out front at the Moore Theatre last night as folks were waiting for the doors to open. They wouldn't allow me to bring the camera in, but Christine from Seattle Sound was shooting right next to me during the show and as it happens had the same camera/lens set up as me, so if you see her shots, it's what I saw. Way high energy show with lots of great new material mixed with many old faves, played to a sold out and extremely appreciative house.
