Here is a behind the scenes look at the big clock and sign first erected at Pike Place Market in 1930 to attract shoppers during the Great Depression era, and it still shines brightly above the cobbled roadway of Pike Place every night from dusk to dawn. I love the stylized letters and dishy face of the clock. Here you can see the catwalks used to maintenance the neon and clockworks. Hard economic times have come 'round again, and fresh, healthy, affordable food sold directly by producers is still beckoning below the red glow.
